Program Overview

We offer two types of Mind the Gap Program:

  • Virtual or in-person sessions on weekdays between Tue-Thur (offered through schools)
  • Workshops during school holidays/ vacations (offered through individual sign-ups)

Mind the Gap Virtual Program

Our virtual program will run for 1.5 hours, consisting of career talks by our women in engineering and Q&A panel discussions.

Dates: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (excl public holidays, summer Obon season, end of year holidays, and new year holidays)

Time: 11:00am - 5:00pm (1.5hrs within this time frame)

Venue: Google Meet (We will share the meeting link closer to event date)

Language: Japanese or English (Please share your preference on the application form)

Target Students: 8th graders - 11th graders (中学 2 年生〜高校 2 年生)

Capacity: 15 students minimum, 50 students maximum

Program Contents

  • “My Story” by women in engineering

    Women in Engineering will share their stories on how they ended up where they are now. This will include what they were like back in middle/ high school days, what their interests were, why they chose Computer Science, what kind of work they do now, etc.

  • Q&A panel discussion with Google employees

    We will have our Googler panelists lined up to answer any questions around women in tech, working in tech, working at Google (or at a global company), or anything that can help demystify the world of Computer Science and tech!

Mind the Gap In-person Program

Summer work shop presentation.

Our in-person program will run for 2 hours, consisting of our office tour, career talks by our women in engineering, and Q&A panel discussions.

Please apply for Mind the Gap In-person Program through this form (by school faculty). One of our program members will reach out to follow up with you. We ask that the application is done per school, and that the faculty members also attend to chaperone the students.

Venue: Google Japan GK, Shibuya Office (Shibuya Stream 5F)

Capacity: 20 students & faculty minimum, 50 students & faculty maximum

Program Contents

  • Google Office Tour

    We will tour around our Google office in small groups. Find out what kind of facilities are available for our employees and why they are offered. See what it’s like to work in an international environment.
